Neuschwansteiner Dark Lager

 

Tämä pullo on mielenkiintoinen sekoitus kieliä. Etuetiketissä nimi on hyvin saksalainen mutta sitten alareunassa taas selkeällä englannilla "Dark Lager" takaetiketti taas on pääosin suomeksi mutta sitten keskellä lukee hupaisasti "Das Echte tumma lager" kun sen ennemminkin pitäisi olla kokonaan suomeksi:"Aito tumma lager" tai saksaksi:"Das echte dunkel lagerbier".
Mukavan näköinen pullo, kaunis linna-aiheinen etiketti ja suljettava patenttikorkki. Sisältä paljastuu ensin pehmeä maltainen ja humalainen tuoksu. Varovasti kaadettaessa ei vaahtoa juuri lainkaan mutta jos kaataa reilummin lasiin, pinnalle muodostuu tiivis reilunkokoinen vaahtokruunu joka hitaasti hajoaa jättäen pintaan ja reunoille kauniin, vähän ruskehtavan pitsikoristelun.
Olut itse on kauniisti syvän kuparin punainen. maku on miellyttävän pehmeä, täyteläisen maltainen ja paahteinen, ehkä jopa vähän hedelmäinen tai rukiinen. Tuore.
Lagerin tapaan tämänkin hyvä tarjoilulämpötila on siinä 10 astetta (celcius) ehkä näin tummalle sopii pari astetta lämpimämpikin jolloin tuo tumman aromin paremmin esille.
Tämä tumma Lager pääsi myös ensimmäisenä esittelemään Lager-lasini jotka ostin Alkosta samaan aikaan kuin nuo Ale-lasitkin.

This bottle is interestin mix of the languages. In the front label, ther stands the name the in clear german language. And then the rest of  the laber tells in clear english that it is dark lager.
on the label back side, it´s mostly in finnish but then in the middle of the label:"Das echte tumma lager". Better could be totally in finnish:" Aito tumma lager" tai sitten kokonaan saksaksi:"Das echte dungel lagerbier".
Beautiful bottle has beautiful label and plug which can be closed. From inside of the bottle, there flies soft, fullmalted scent with some hop. When pouring to the glass, it creates tight and big foam crown which smells down quite fast, decorating the glass edges and the surface with nice light brown lace.
The beer itself is dark copper brown coloured. The taste is pleasant full bodied soft malt, little roasty and has some caramell and rye. Fresh.
Like Lagers ususally this is also good to serve around 10 degrees (celsius) temperature, Maybe little warmer, so it  gives softly the dark aroma out..
This dark lager also introduces the 1st time my new Lager glasses which I bought from Alko at the same time than the Ale-glasses in the previous post.

Bishop´s Finger Ale

 

Bishop´s Finger on Ale-tyyppinen olut. Mitä on sitten Ale. Opiskeluksi taas meni.
Ale on pintahiivaolut jonka pääkäyminen tapahtuu melko korkeassa, n. 20 asteen lämpötilassa. Pääkäyminen valmistuu yleensä näillä tyypeillä melko nopeasti, jopa 4 vikossa jonka jälkeen, varsinkin vahvoja Aleja kypsytetään (jälkikäyminen) kylmässä. Pääkäymisen päättyessä Hiivat kerääntyvät oluen pintaan. Lämpimässä Ale-oluen hiivat aineenvaihdunnassaan muodostavat hedelmäestereitä joista alelle tyypillinen hedelmäinen tuoksu tulee. Alen paras tarjoilulämpötila on n. 10-14 celsiusastetta.

Bishop´s finger on väriltään tummahkon kuparin punainen. Lasiin kaadettaessa muodostaa hyvän tiiviin valkean vaahtokruun. Tuoksu on millyttävän peheä. Maku on monisuuntainen. Alku onpehmeän maltainen ja samalla vähän kirpakka. Kohta hiipii esiin moimakas kypsä maltaisuus sekä vahva humala joka antaa purevuutta hedelmäisen suuntäyttävän aromin kanssa.

Tässä olikin sopiva olut myös usien lasien kokeiluun. Kunnon olutlasit ovat olleet haussa jo jonkin aikaa, Kaapissa lähinnä pari vehnäolutlasia. Nyt sitten vihdoin löysin ne. Alkon valikoimassa oli sekä lager- että ale-oluille. Lasit ovat erittäin tyylikkäät ja laadukkaat eikä hintakaan ollut paha: n.17€/2 kpl. Näillä on hyvä mennä eteenpäin.

Bishop´s finger is an Ale type beer. What then is Ale. Need to study little more.
Ale is a beer which is fermented in high temperatures as 17-24 degrees in celsius. The yeast will collect on the surface at the end of fermentation and it is producing esters and other things that will make the ale to taste litlle "fruity". The best serving temperature is 10-14degrees (C).

Bishop´s Finger is dark cpper red coloured ale beer. While pouring into the glass it will create a nice, strong foam top. The scent is pleasant soft. It has versatile taste. At first comes soft and full bodied malt and little tart. Soon comes out mellow barley malt with quite strong hop aroma which gives some biting with mouth filling fruity taste.

This was also nice chance for the 1st ale-beer from my new beer glass for Ale. I´ve been searching for the proper beer glasses. I already had one for white beer. Now I found these glasses for Ale and Lager type beer from Alko (Finlands spririt store). They are real stylish and were not to expensive, around €17/2pcs.

St Fruillien Grad Cru

No nyt on putki päällä kun jo toisena päivänä peräkkäin.
Tänään Hotelliasukkin iltapalaksi menee Belgialainen Vahva Ale, St Fruillien Grand Cru. Onneksi en lukenut etikettejä etukäteen, olisi saattanut olla ennakkoluuloja. Olut on nimittäin vahva myös alkoholipitoisuudeltaan, kokonaiset 9,5%
Tuoksu on makean mieto, humalaa. Kaatuu lasiin kuin vahva ale, Muodostaa kunnon valkean  vaahtokruunun joka on pyrkimässä heti ulos lasista ja on pitkäkestoinen. Väri on kauniin oljen keltainen. Tulppaanilasi kuuluisi tällekin olla ehdottomasti. Maku onkin sitten tosi monimuotoinen.
Ensin kirpeää hapokkuutta, perään tulee makeaa maltaisuutta, hiven karamelliä ja yrttisyyttä. Suuri alkoholipitoisuus ei tunnu maussa mutta joka siemauksella lämmittää mukavasti. Erittäin hieno olut on tämä. Voin suositella.

Heh...Now the things are tearing away, Already the second beer in two days in row ;)
today, here living in hotell this week, I have this beer as "supper": Belgian strong Ale, St Fruillien Grand Cru.
Luckily I didn´t read the label before to avoid prejudice: This beer is very strong, 9,5% alcohol.
The scent is nice malted with strong hopping. When poured to the glass it will form good sized white foam crown which stays there long time.
Colour is near the light straw and little fluffy. Taste is really in it´s own class. first a little carbonate, then sweet malt with flavour of caramel and herbs. Big content of alcohol doesn´t ruin the taste, but makes a warming feeling. Very nice beer.

Pilsner Urquell

Jaa että monta päivä jo vierähtänyt edellisestä oluesta. No ei varmaan tarvitse ystäväni olla huolissaan minusta, Oli nimittäin nähnyt painajaista että minusta olisi tullut tämän maistelun ja blogin myötä rapajuoppo. Tätä vauhtia minulla varmaan tätä projektia riittää loppuvuoden ;-)

Pilsner Urquell kehutaan olevan Maailman ensimmäinen Pilsner-olut. Sen "kotimaa" on Tsekki ja sen on kehittänyt Baijerilainen Panimomestari Josef Groll (Wikipedia). Historiakin on jo pitkä, tätä olutta on valmistettu vuodesta 1842 alkaen
Pullon avauduttua sieltä nousee ensin voimakas oluen ja humalan tuoksu joka pian muuttuu miedoksi, vahvan maltaiseksi ja miellyttäväksi. Lasiin muodostuu kaadettaessa melko tiivis mutta aika pian sulava vaahto joka jättää kivat pitsit reunoille. Väri on vahvan kullankeltainen.
Maku on voimakas. Pilsner Urquell on voimakkaasti huomaloitu olut jossa kuitenkin on pehmeä maltainen maku tallessa.
Kuvan lasivalinta ei ollut oikein mieleiseni mutta täällä hotellihuoneessa ei nyt muutakaan ollut.
Olenko sitten hifistelijä mutta mielestäni tällainen olut, hitaasti nautiskellen, ansaitsisi korkean lasin joka kapenee ylöspäin. Esim tällainen Alkon valikoimasta.

Too many days without beer and new post? I think, a friend of mine, doesn´t need to worry about me. She had a nightmare that I was become an alcoholic while tasting these beers and writing this blog.
With this shedule, this project will not end until in the end of t his year ;-)

Pilsner Urquell is told to be the world´s 1st pilsner-beer. The home of this beer is Czech and it is designed by brewmaster Joseph Groll, from Bayern (Wikipedia). The History is also long, it is brewed since 1984.
After opening the bottle, the strong scent of malt and hop floods out, changing soon mild, strongly malted and nice. It creates guite good foam which melts quickly forming nice looking lace around the edges. Colour is beautiful golden yellow. Taste is strong. Pilsner Urquell is strongly hopped still saving the smooth malt taste.
The glass selected for the photo was not the best one. Maybe I´m little picky but I thing this beer, when enjoyed cold and slovly, earns a round lager type glass which is narrowing to upwards, like this.

Tsingtao

Mikäpä yhtä sopiva reissuolut kuin kiinalainen Tringtao. Pitkän päivän jälkeen, suihkun päälle hotellihuoneessa Autokylmänä, Siis todella huurteisena. Jo vanhana tuttavuutena tätä voisin suositella myös ruokajuomaksi, varsinkin kiinalaisen ruoan kanssa toimii hyvin.
Tsingatao Brewery Co., Ltd. on Kiinan toiseksi suurin panimo jonka perustivat saksalaiset ja englantilaiset vuonna 1903. Erikoista on että tämän oluen valmistuksessa on otettu aineksia ympäri maailman. Hiiva tulee saksasta, Ohramallasta Australiasta, Canadasta ja Ranskasta. Humala ja riisi länsi-kiinasta sekä raikas lähdevesi Laoshan vuorilta Kiinasta. kyllä, tässä oluessa on myös riisiä.
Tsingtao on melko tyypillinen pilsner tyyppinen vaalean keltainen olut. Tuoksu on raikkaan maltainen.
Muodostaa aika heikon vaahdon joka sulaa pian pois. Maku on ehkä hiukan paahteinen ja pähkinäinen, terävä humalan aromi potkaisee mukavasti. Ehkäpä tuo riisikin antaa oman leimansa makuun.

What vould be better when traveling far, that chinese Tsingtao. After a long, hard day, take a shower and the relaxing and enjoying the Car-cold (Yes, whole day in the car, in
-10 degrees celsius) beer. Luckily it didn´t get frozen to ice. I know this beer already, have drinked it some times and I really can recommend it also as served with food, especially with chinese food.
Tsingtao Brewery Co., Ltd. was founded by german and brittish settlers on 1903 and it is the second biggest brewery in china. Special thing is that the barley malt fot this beer comes from Australia, Canada and France, the yeast comes from Germany, Hop and Rice, Yes they use Rice also, comes from western china and fres spring water from Laoshan mountain in China.
Tsingtao is quite typical Pilsner type beer with light yellow colour. It´s foam is thin and melts down quickly. The scent is fresh with nice malt aroma. Taste is little toasty and nutty. Sharp Hop makes it kick nicely. Sure, the rice gives also some special character to the taste.

Red Stripe

A lalala long...

Jamaican rytmejä. Red stripe on siis alunperin jamaicalainen lager olut. Jännän lyhyessä pullossa onkin teksti:"jo yli 80 vuoden ajan Red Stripe lager on ilmentänyt Jamaican ja sen asukkaiden henkeä, rytmiä ja sykettä"

Mitäpä pullosta tulee ulos. Vaalean keltainen lager joka on hyvin miedon tuoksuinen, muodostaa kaadettaessa melko heikon, nopeasti katoavan vaahdon. Makukin on todella hento mutta silti hiukan maltainen. Vähän hapokas, ikäänkuin masustettua vichyä. Humala on myös hyvin hentoarominen eikä kovin kitkeräkään. Kyllähän tätä siemailee jääkylmänä, kuten lagerin tuleekin olla tarjoiltaessa, ja letkeän reggaen soidessa.  A lalala long :)

Rythm of jamaica. Red Sipe is originally jamaican lager.  On the label of this funny short botlle there stands: "For over 80 years Red Stripe lager has embodied the spirit, rythm and pulse of  Jamaica and its people".

But what will we get out from this funny looking short bottle. Light yellow lager, which has a very mild scent, forms very thin, quickly dissappearing foam. Taste is also very slight but still has some aroma of malt. Also it is quite sparkly, kind of feeling of mineral water with bubbles, in finland it's called vichy. Hop aroma is also very weak and just little bitter. Yea this can be drinked when cooled very cold, and with reggae music playing. A lalala long :)

Vehnä Väinö

 

Mannermaista Suomalaisuutta Lahdesta.
Keskieroopan, Lähinnä Saksan ja Belgian parasta antia ovat mielestäni vehnäoluet. Varsinkin Saksassa reissatessa on varsin mielenkiintoista aina etsiä se alueen oma vehnäolut tuntea sen luonne, joka kertoo jotakin alueesta ja sen ihmisistä. Muistan vielä hyvin ajan kun suomessa ei vehnäoluita juurikaan saanut. Kun sen ensimmäisen Fraziskaner Weissen löysin paikallisesta se oli yhtä juhlaa. Nyt voin, suurena Vehnäoluen ystävänä, todeta ilolla että aika moni suomalainen panimo ottanut vehnäoluet omakseen valikoimiinsa.
Tässä paketissa löytyi Lahtelaisen Teerenpeli-panimon toinen vehnäolut-tuote joka on tyypiltään tumma, suodattamaton bock olut. Teerenpelin tuotesivustolta en tätä löytänyt, vain vaalean vehnäoluen. Miksi, sitä en osaa sanoa, vastatkoon heidän edustajansa tähän kysymykseen. Tuo vaaleakin täytyy kyllä löytää maisteltavaksi. Täytynee siis suunnitella reissua Lahteen ;)
Mutta nyt tähän Väinöön. Korkin auettua pullosta nousee mieto, vähän hedelmäinen tuoksu. Olut kaatuu vaivattomasti lasiin muodostaen melko heikon vaahdon. Ja nyt tärkeää: Ainakin minun mielestäni tälainen pohjahiivakäytetty suodattamaton olut on kaadettava lasiin juuri oikein.
Ensin reilu 3/4 lasiin reunaa pitkin valuttaen siten kuitenkin että saadaan pintaan vaahtoa, Sitten pullo pystyyn ja reilu pyöräytys jotta saadaan pullon pohjalle laskeutunut sakka mukaan, siinä on nimittäin runsaasti oluen makua ja luonnetta mukana. Kaadetaan loppu olut sakkoineen varovasti vaahdon pinnalle.
Sitten ensimmäinen siemaus. Hedelmäisyys jatkuu maussa. Tästä puuttuu se vahva sahtimaisuus joka monesta vehnäoluesta löytyy.  Ensimmäinen kokemus on hedelmäinen ja täyteläinen, ehkä vähän kirpeä. Voimakas mutta ei liian kitkerä humala jatkuu melko pitkänä jälkimakuna kielenkannassa.
Tarjoilulämpötila tälle oluelle pitää olla vähän korkeampi kuin jääkaappikylmä. Sen on hyvä antaa vaikka hiukan hengähtää avatussa pullossa tai lasiin kaadettuna, 10-15 asteen lämpöisenä aromit tulevat loistavasti esiin. Ehdottomasti omiin suosikkeihin kun on kysymys vehnäoluista


The Finnish continental style beer from Lahti.
In Middle Europe, mainly in Germany and Belgium the best thing, I think, is  the white beers. Especially in Germany, while traveling around, it  is quite interesting to look for local white beers, which tells you something about the area and its people. I still clearly remember the time when there was hardly any white beer availlable in Finland. When I found the first Fraziskaner Weissen from my local store it was reason to celebrate. Nowadays, as  I´m  a great fan of white beer, I
can see with joy that the Finnish breweries has taken the white beers to their own
assortment.

In this birthday present package I found one of the two white beers from the brewery Teerenpeli. It is is a dark, unfiltered bock type  beer. In  Teerenpeli´s  web site, in the products page, it can´t be found. There´s just the light white beer. Why, I can not say, their representatives shall answer this question. I also have to get  that light one for tasting. So I might have to plan a trip to Lahti City ;)But now, in this Väinö. After opening the bottle, there  flows a mild and bit fruity scent. Beer can be poured to glass easily and it generates a relatively weak foam. And now important: At least I think This kind of  unfiltered beer has to be poured into the glass just right.First, more than three quarters along the edge of the glass slowly, however, in such a way that the surface of the foam is obtained, Then straighten the bottle,  spin up little and then pour settled sediment carfully on the top of the foam.This sediment, atually includes the rich flavor and character of the beer.
Then the first sip. Fruity full bodied taste continues in the mouth. The strong "sahtimaisuus" which can be found in many white beer is missing, (Sahti is a traditional  and special home brewed beer). Yes, the first experience is fruity and full-bodied, perhaps a bit bitter. Strong, but not too bitter hop aroma comes slowly and is  quite long living aftertaste in the back of the mouth.
Serving temperature for this beer needs to be a bit higher than the refrigerator cold. It is good to give even a little breathing in the opened bottle or when poured into a glass. While 10-15 degrees celcius, the aromas will come out brilliantly.
Sure, this will be my favourite of the dark white beers.

St. Andrews Ale

Tälläkertaa olutseikkailu suuntautuu Skotlantiin kuuluisille golf kentille. St. Andewsia kehutaan Golfin kodiksi. Näin lukee myös juuri avatun pullon etiketissä. Jonkun tarinan mukaan ensimmäinen golf-peli pelattiin juuri tässä historiallisessa kaupungissa.
Belhavenin panimon valmistama olut on niin näyttävässä pullossa että se oli pakko kuvata myös täytenä. Heti pullon avauduttua sieltä tulvii täyteläinen maltainen, aika voimakas tuoksu. Upean kuparinpunainen juoma valuu nätisti lasiin muodostaen keskivahvan vaahdon joka ohenee pian mutta säilyy hentona kantena juomalle pitkään. Oma uskomukseni on että hyvä kestävä vaahto säilyttää oluessa aromit loppuun asti. Lasissa St.Andrews helmeilee pitkään ja on myös kauniin kuparisen värinen. Maku on tässä oluessa loistava. Pehmeän maltainen ja runsas humalointi joka ei kuitenkaan tee oluesta kitkerää vaan miellyttävän pehmeän makuinen juoma tuntuu raikkaalta viimeiseen pisaraan. Pieni häivähdys toffeeta ja vähän pähkinäinen paahdettu vivahde kulkee mukana. Loistava olut moneen tarkoitukseen. Tämän voisin hyvin kuvitella aurinkoisella terassilla oikein toimivaksi.

This time my beer adventure takes me to Scotland, to the famous golf courses. St. Andrews is also told to be the home of golf. This is also printed on the label of the bottle I just opened. the tales tells that the 1st golf game was played in this historic Scottish town, St. Andrews.
This beer, brewed in Belhaven brewery, is bottled in a such beautiful bottle that I had to add a photo of  full, unopened bottle, too.
Immediately after the bottle is opened, there floods a strong rich scent of barley malt. Glorious copper red beer flows nicely into the glass forming middle strong foam which creates thin layer covering the beer as long as it stays in the glass. In my opinion, the long lastin foam protects the aroma of the dring till the last drop.
In the glass St. Andrews Ale is beautiful copper red and sparkling quite long. Barley malt gives good full bodied taste with rich and soft aroma of hop, still not beeing too bitter. A tender nuance of toffee and roasted nut travels with every sip of this beer.
I could imagine how this beer would be delicious in the sunny terrace.

Marsalkka Savu

Suomalaisuuden voimaa.
Tänään laitoin jo yhden skottilaisen jäähtymään mutta sitten päädyin kuitenkin kotimaiseen tuotteeseen. Marsalkka Savu löytyy "A-marketin" käsityöläisolutvalikoimaan ja tästä ei ainakaan vielä löydy speksejä panimon omilta sivuilta. 0,33l pullosta aukeaa mukavan täyteläinen, maltainen, ja kuten kuuluu hiukan savuinen tuoksu. Lasiin voi valuttaa reilusti sillä tämä olut ei vaahtoa kovin vahvasti eikä kauniin kermaisen värinen vaahto ole kovin pitkä kestoinen. Hiukan samea, tummanruskea olut on vahvasti humaloitu ja savumallas antaa kitkerän alun jälkeen pyöreän, jopa hiukan hedelmäisen maun. Mukana on ihan hiukan sitrusta ja loppu on reilusti rukiinen. Savuoluiden ystävänä tästä vaan tykkää.
Tässä tuli vaan vielä mieleeni että ei nuo kaikki 60 olutoulloa mahtuneet pahviseen kurkkulaatikkoon. Osa pulloista oli pakattu kahteen Lahtisen Huopatehtaan valmistamaan kassiin.
Varsin vahvatekoinen huovasta valmistettu kassi jossa mukavasti kulkee kotiin vaikkapa useampikin saunaolut.

Power of Finland
Today I already put one scotch beer into the fridge, but then I changed my mind and decided to trust the finnish quality. Marsalkka Savu (marsalkaa =marshal, but for finnish, it is the same than Mannerheim ;). Savu = smoke). can be found in special range of beer from small breweries as "hand craft" beer.
This beer is quite new and cannot be found yet from brewerie´s own web page.
After opening the bottle the nice and full scent of malt slightly tinted to smoke comes out.
the beer can be poured to glass quite fast while it is not foaming too much and the beautiful cream coloured foam is not long living. A little opaque, dark brown coloured beer is strongly hopped and ssmoked malt gives first a little bitter taste but soon turns raound and kind of fruity aroma with some citrus and the rest is long lasting rye. As a friend of the smoke beer I just like this.
By the way, I remembered a thing. All the 60 bottles of beer were not fitted in a cucumber box. The rest was packed into two bags designed and manufactured in Lahtisen Huopatehdas. They are made from strong wool felt which can carry easily even several bottles of beer for the sauna evening.

Postřižinské pivo Svétlý ležák

Tämänkertainen teetti hiukan etukäteistyötä kun heti ei etiketistä selvinnyt alkuperämaa ja nimessäkin oli niin kummia kirjaimia. Kyseessä on siis tsekkiläinen vaalea lager, mitä tuo nimikin juuri tarkoittaa: Postřižinské pivo = Postrizinyn Olut. Svétlý ležák = Vaalea Lager. Tässähän oppii vielä tarpeellisen määrän tsekin kieltäkin ;)

Kun pullosta nappaa korkin auki alkaa tapahtua, Vaahto tulee jo vastaan ja kannattaa olla valmiiksi kaatamassa. Lasiinkaato on hyvä tehdä hiukan varovasti, muuten kuohuu vaahto yli.

Vaahtokruunu on kuitenkin täyteläinen ja melko kestävä ja komea. Tuoksu on miedohko, perus olutmainen, Maussa pientä metallista vivahdetta ja humalan aromi melko mieto ja pehmeä. Oikein toimiva ja raikas perus lager. sopiva ruokajuomaksi koska ei ole liian vahva eikä voimakasmakuinen. 4,7%VOL.

This time the selected beer caused some pre work. From the label the country of origin wasn´t so clearly read. due to many accented letters I still bet i could be czech, and so it is. The beer is czech light lager. Actually the name on the label tells that. Postřižinské pivo = Postriziny´s beer. Svétlý ležák = light Lager. Haha, I will learn the needed amount of czech language at the same time ;).

When the you open the bottle you should be ready, The foam is already coming out and you should be immediately ready to pour. It should be poured to glass carefully, otherwise the beer will foam over. Still the foam crown is rich and magnificent. Scent is mild and quite basic beer. Taste has a little metallic sense and mild aroma of hop has nice smooth feeling. Very good working basic lager. Because it´s not so strong tasting it is very suitable served with food.

Robinson´s Old Tom

Vierähtipä muutama päivä ettei ehtinyt oluenjuontiin. Itseasiassa eilen oli jo olut odottamassa jääkaapissa mutta sitten vaan iski väsy ensin.

Tänään siis pääsi käsittelyyn Briteissä pantu Robinson´s Old Tom, joka vaatimattomasti kehuu etiketissään "Maailman paras Ale". On näköjään saanut palkintojakin, eikä kyllä turhaan. Tujakkaakin on, kaikki 8.5% joten melko passeli tällaiseksi perjantai-illan TV-olueksi.

Pullosta tulee esiin vahvan tumma ale joka muodostaa tiukan vähän kellertävän vaahdon. Kuten yleensä, nytkin annan oluen hiukan hengähtää lasissa ja tänä aikana vaahdosta on jäljellä mukavat harsot reunoilla.

Maku on yhtä vahva kuin värikin. Tukevan kotikaljamainen. Ei liian hapokaskaan mutta voimakas arominen humala antaa luonnetta ja tuntuu ensin jopa hiukan imelältä, hedelmäiseltä mutta kääntyy sitten hetken päästä vähän kitkerän puolelle, ehkä vähän katajamainen loppuaromi. Hyvää on ja täyteläistä kuten luvataan mutta enpä tiedä vielä onko mielestäni se maailman paras, vielä on reilu 50 muuta maisteltavana. Kärki sijoilla kuitenkn.

Few days went without any beer. Actually I already had the next one waiting in the fridge but the tiredness took me first.

Today I got it for tasting. The Robinson´s Old Tom. A Brittish beer that tells on the label being the "world´s best ale". Also some world beer award mentioned and not for nothing. It´s also strong: 8,5%VOL makes it to be excellent friday evenig TV-Movie-Beer.

What comes out from the bottle? Dark, almost black but still clear beer, making a thick yellow foam crown on the top. As usually, I let also this beer to breath a while in the glass. During this moment the foam melts and there is nice lace left.

The taste is as strong as the colour. Strongly as home-brewed beer. Not too sparkly and intensive hopping gives character and little bit sweet aroma at 1st, even fruity but slowly turns to hop-bitter and has also some feel of juniper. Full-bodied and good as promised but I don´t know yet if it´s the world´s best ale, I have more than 50 others for tasting,  but still it is near the top.
