Brooklyn American Ale

En taas selittele tekosyitä etten olisi muka ehtinyt oluita maistelemaan. Tänään oli kuitenkin taas hyvä tekosyy maistella kun laitoin muutaman iltapalamuikun savustuslaatikkoon kypsymään.

Brooklyn American Ale on kuten nimensä paljastaa, Aito amerikkalainen ale tyyppinen olut. Alkuperäismaassa myydään käsittääkseni nimellä Summer Ale, Ainakin etiketti on saman lainen ja käytetyt mallas ja humalatyypit ovat samat.

Lasiin soljuu mukava kullanruskea miellyttävän tuoksuinen olut muodostaen jämäkän mutta ei kovin korkean vaahtokerroksen. Vaahto kuitenkin sulaa pian pois jääden lähinnä lasin reunoille valkeaksi renkaaksi.

Maku on täyteläinen ja pehmeä. Kullanruskea väri ja pehmeä hieman paahteinen maku tulee käytetystä maltaasta joka ymmärtääkseni olisi brittialkuperää. Cascade ja Amarillo humalat antavat pirteän makuvivahteen kaupanpäälle.
Ei liian voimakas mutta silti täyteläisen makuinen olut sopii hienosti ruokaolueksi ja miksei näin ruoan valmistumisen osotteluunkin, ikäänkuin aperitiiviksi.


Again, I do explain  excuses that I  haven´t had time for beer tasting. Today, however, was once again a great excuse have some beer while  i put a few whitefish into the smoker.

Brooklyn American Ale is as its name reveals, Genuine American ale-type beers. In America, the Country of Origin it is sold with brand Summer Ale, at least the label is the same type used and the types of malt and hops are the same.

While  pouring to Glass that nice golden brown pleasant-smelling beer, it is forming a sturdy but not very high layer of foam. However, as soon as the foam will melt away quite quickly it will leave a white ring around the edge of the glass.

The taste is full-bodied and smooth. Golden brown colour and slightly soft toasty flavor come from the malt which is used for brewing this beer. I understood the used barley malt is British origin. Cascade and Amarillo hops gives the fresh and slightly bitter taste  .
Not too strong but still mellow beer fits nicely with meal or while waiting the meal to be ready, as an appetizer.

Bishop´s Finger Ale

 

Bishop´s Finger on Ale-tyyppinen olut. Mitä on sitten Ale. Opiskeluksi taas meni.
Ale on pintahiivaolut jonka pääkäyminen tapahtuu melko korkeassa, n. 20 asteen lämpötilassa. Pääkäyminen valmistuu yleensä näillä tyypeillä melko nopeasti, jopa 4 vikossa jonka jälkeen, varsinkin vahvoja Aleja kypsytetään (jälkikäyminen) kylmässä. Pääkäymisen päättyessä Hiivat kerääntyvät oluen pintaan. Lämpimässä Ale-oluen hiivat aineenvaihdunnassaan muodostavat hedelmäestereitä joista alelle tyypillinen hedelmäinen tuoksu tulee. Alen paras tarjoilulämpötila on n. 10-14 celsiusastetta.

Bishop´s finger on väriltään tummahkon kuparin punainen. Lasiin kaadettaessa muodostaa hyvän tiiviin valkean vaahtokruun. Tuoksu on millyttävän peheä. Maku on monisuuntainen. Alku onpehmeän maltainen ja samalla vähän kirpakka. Kohta hiipii esiin moimakas kypsä maltaisuus sekä vahva humala joka antaa purevuutta hedelmäisen suuntäyttävän aromin kanssa.

Tässä olikin sopiva olut myös usien lasien kokeiluun. Kunnon olutlasit ovat olleet haussa jo jonkin aikaa, Kaapissa lähinnä pari vehnäolutlasia. Nyt sitten vihdoin löysin ne. Alkon valikoimassa oli sekä lager- että ale-oluille. Lasit ovat erittäin tyylikkäät ja laadukkaat eikä hintakaan ollut paha: n.17€/2 kpl. Näillä on hyvä mennä eteenpäin.

Bishop´s finger is an Ale type beer. What then is Ale. Need to study little more.
Ale is a beer which is fermented in high temperatures as 17-24 degrees in celsius. The yeast will collect on the surface at the end of fermentation and it is producing esters and other things that will make the ale to taste litlle "fruity". The best serving temperature is 10-14degrees (C).

Bishop´s Finger is dark cpper red coloured ale beer. While pouring into the glass it will create a nice, strong foam top. The scent is pleasant soft. It has versatile taste. At first comes soft and full bodied malt and little tart. Soon comes out mellow barley malt with quite strong hop aroma which gives some biting with mouth filling fruity taste.

This was also nice chance for the 1st ale-beer from my new beer glass for Ale. I´ve been searching for the proper beer glasses. I already had one for white beer. Now I found these glasses for Ale and Lager type beer from Alko (Finlands spririt store). They are real stylish and were not to expensive, around €17/2pcs.

Siitä se ajatus sitten lähti

Perhe, ystävät, Parasta mitä ihmisellä voi olla.

Willit Wiiskymppiset tuli vietettyä ja ilmeisesti kaverit ovat panneet merkille että tykkään maistella aina uusia oluita jos vaan on tarjolla.

Porukka koputtaa ikkunaan ja kun menen pihalle vieraita vastaanottamaan siellä ollaan tähtisädetikkujen kanssa vetämässä onnittelulaulua, maassa pulkka jonka ovat raahanneet kylän läpi pihaan. Pulkassa olevassa laatikossa on todellakin 60 pulloa olutta: yksi joka vuodesta sekä "muutama" varaolut ;-)

Ja siis jokainen pullo on erilainen. Ei mitään perus-koffia vaan erikois- ja tuontioluita.

Toive ja ehkä jopa vaatimus oli että minun tulee sitten jokaisesta pullosta kirjoittaa jonkinlainen kuvaus ja liittää etiketin tai pullon kuva mukaan. Lupasin siis aloittaa (ja myös ylläpitää) blogin aiheesta.

En sitten ole mikään oluiden asiantuntijahifistelijä vaan ihan maallikkopohjalta tässä kerron miltä maistuu ja tuntuu. Yritän vähän toki samalla perehtyä terminologiaan laatuihin ja esim etsiä erityypeille sopivat, suositellut tarjoilulämpötilat. Koittakaa kestää.

Mutta tänään ei vielä lähde. Vähän pitää vielä toipua eilisistä partyista.

And I got the Idea..

Family, Friends, The best one can have.
Wild Fifty-years party is over. I think my friends have noticed I like bier. Not the ordinary market bier but allways something special from local breweries or imported specialities.
These friends came as invited to my home party, knocked the window and as I went out to welcome them, they had some fireworks and a sledge full of bier. And really, there was 60 different kind of beer bottles from allmost everywhere around the world. One bottle for each year and then some (10) bottles as spare ;-)
They also gave a wish that I would write some notes about each of these beer. I promised to start a blog.
I´m no any expert on different beer types but I try to tell how I taste or feel these amazing drinks.
Same time I try to learn more to the terminology and different beer types.
Hope you´ll enjoy all the 60 postings that are coming to this blog.
