Mythos from Greek

Tänään lupasin maistella välimeren makuja. Olut on kotoisin Kreikasta ja nimi on Mythos. Etiketissä mainitaan että kyseessä on "Hellenic lager beer".
Tähän kreikkalaiseen olueeseen tutustuin jo muutamia vuosia takaperin Ruotsissa työmatkalla Borlangessa.
Kollegojen kanssa kävimme iltaisin aina eri paikoissa syömässä. Eräänä iltana löysimme Kreikkalaisen ravintolan, Ehdotin että menisimme sinne ja kerroin että osaavat ainakin grillata lihan. Tietysti alkupalaksi tilasimme kreikkalaisen leivän Tsatsikin kera. Tsatsikia tulikin sitten, jokaiselle suuri lautasellinen. Eihä siinä muuta mutta kun sitä tsatsikia oli myös siinä ruoka-annoksen mukanakin suunnilleen samanlainen määrä.
Tottakai ruokajuomaksi valitsimme kreikkalaisen oluen joka olikin nimeltään Mythos. Silloin tuosta oluesta jäi ehkä vähän valju kuva. Ehkä sitten tuo suuri tsatsikimäärä laimensi makunautintoa oluen osalta.
Nyt tänään avattuna ensisiemaisulla oli ihan kelpo olutta. Aikaisempiin maisteluihin verraten ei tämä mikään makujen sinfonia ole mutta sellaista kevyttä, hiukan kirpeän hapokasta kevyttä ruokaolutta. Tosin on juotava melko nopeasti sillä vaahto on melko ohut ja häviää nopeasti eikä siis lasiin jää olutta suojelevaa kantta. Juoma siis lasissa seistessään laimenee nopeasti. Aluksi hapokkuus voittaa miedon humalan mutta hetkenpäästä, hapokkuuden laimennuttua humalan pehmeä aromi pääsee paremmin esille ja jättää voimakkaamman jälkimaun. Maltaan maku jää kokematta tästä. Väriltään Mythos on täyteläisen oljenkeltainen. Ohut valkoinen vaahto häviää melko pian jättäen reunoille vaahtorenkaan.  Tuoksu on aika mitäänsanomaton. Tämä maistiainen vahvistaa kyllä tuota aikaisempaa mielikuvaani tästä oluesta.


Today I promised to taste somethiing from mediterranean area. This beer, I just opened comes from Greek and it´s brand is Mythos. On the label you can find words: "Hellenic lager beer".
Mythos came familiar to me some years ago in Sweden, Borlange. I was there participating a trainig and with my colleagues, we used to go to different restaurants in the evenings to have dinner. On evening we selected the Greece restaursnt, because I told that they should know how to grill the meat. For starter  we took Greek bread with tzatziki. We all got a big dish full of this tzatziki. Well it´s not so bad, but with the main dish we got almost the same pile of tzatziki :D. For the drink we selected, of course, Greek beer and it was this same Mythos. This time I got an image in myu mind about a mild, loose beer with no character.
Maybe it was the huge amount of tzatziki affecting the taste of the beer.
Now, This Mythos opened today, was quite good beer with the 1st sip. Verifying with the earlier beers in this blog, mythos isn´t any "symphony of taste and aroma", but it is kind of light beer to dring with food.
It has to be drunk quite fast because it will flatten fast. the foam is thin and melts down quickly. So the beer has no protecting lid on it while resting in the glass. At first the sparkling tartness wins the mild hop aroma but when the sparkles dissappear and beer flattens, the hop is coming out and gives nice after taste. the Malt aroma was missing in this beautifully straw-yellow coloured lager. White, thin foam melts away quickly but leaves a thin foam ring around the glass.The Scent is very mild or even "Nothing".
Ok. I didn´t got any better opininion of this beer at this time.
