Sapporo Premium Lager

Tämän Heinäkuun lopun kesäisen päivän päätteeksi parin grillimakkaran kaveriksi jääkaapista löytyi japanilainen Sapporo Lager. Olut on kuitenkin täällä meillä Lisenssiolutta joka valmistetaan ja pullotetaan etiketin mukaan EU:ssa.
Vähän kullanruskea olut antaa keskikorkean vaahtokerroksen joka hajoaa melko nopeasti jättäen kuitenkin ohuen pitsin pinnalle. Ei kovin vahva mallasaromi mutta pitkähkö, loiva humalan katkero jälkimakuna. Helpohko juoda ja maistui ainakin hyvältä nöiden Juusto-Jalapeno kabanossien kanssa. Kylmänä.
Peittoaa kuitenkin mennentullen perustölkkikeppanat.

As finalizing this nice, warm summerday of late July, I found from fridge a Japanese Sapporo Premium Lager beer.
Here it is still brewed by license, the label tells that in EU.
Slightly Gold Brown beer creates middle high crown of foam which stays for a while and then smelts down and leaves thin lace on the surface. The aroma of the malt is not very strong but the hops gives quite long bitter but fresh aftertaste.  Easy beer to drink and tasted nice with those Cheese-Jalapeno spiced sausages I grilled. Must be cold.
Still Wins our basic canned beers easily.

KEO Premium beer from Cyprus

KEO on Kyprokselta peräisin oleva vaalea lager tyyppinen olut, tai oikeammin Pilsner tyyppinen. Väriltään vaalean keltainen, Muodostaa kaadettaessa hennon mutta runsaan vaahdon joka jää lopuksi pitsikerrokseksi pinnalle. Välimeren alueen oluille tyypillisen miedon makuinen. Kuitenkin raikas ja hyvin kylmänämaistuu kyllä suolaisen savukalan kanssa
Humalasta peräisin oleva aromi on myös pehmeä ja pyöreä, ei liian kitkerä.
Ehkä paras tähän asti maistamistani välimeren alueen oluista.

KEO from Cyprys, is light Lager, or actually Pils type of beer. Light yellow coloured beer, while pouring, creates light, bright white but good volume of foam which finally stays as a lace layer on the top. As typical for the mediterranean district beers, KEO is also very mild tasting. Still as served well chilled, it gives fresh feeling and tastes very good with salty, smoked fish.
The bitternes from the hops is also smooth and round, not too bitter and also not too sparkly. Maybe the best beer from mediterranean, I have tasted.

Brooklyn American Ale

En taas selittele tekosyitä etten olisi muka ehtinyt oluita maistelemaan. Tänään oli kuitenkin taas hyvä tekosyy maistella kun laitoin muutaman iltapalamuikun savustuslaatikkoon kypsymään.

Brooklyn American Ale on kuten nimensä paljastaa, Aito amerikkalainen ale tyyppinen olut. Alkuperäismaassa myydään käsittääkseni nimellä Summer Ale, Ainakin etiketti on saman lainen ja käytetyt mallas ja humalatyypit ovat samat.

Lasiin soljuu mukava kullanruskea miellyttävän tuoksuinen olut muodostaen jämäkän mutta ei kovin korkean vaahtokerroksen. Vaahto kuitenkin sulaa pian pois jääden lähinnä lasin reunoille valkeaksi renkaaksi.

Maku on täyteläinen ja pehmeä. Kullanruskea väri ja pehmeä hieman paahteinen maku tulee käytetystä maltaasta joka ymmärtääkseni olisi brittialkuperää. Cascade ja Amarillo humalat antavat pirteän makuvivahteen kaupanpäälle.
Ei liian voimakas mutta silti täyteläisen makuinen olut sopii hienosti ruokaolueksi ja miksei näin ruoan valmistumisen osotteluunkin, ikäänkuin aperitiiviksi.


Again, I do explain  excuses that I  haven´t had time for beer tasting. Today, however, was once again a great excuse have some beer while  i put a few whitefish into the smoker.

Brooklyn American Ale is as its name reveals, Genuine American ale-type beers. In America, the Country of Origin it is sold with brand Summer Ale, at least the label is the same type used and the types of malt and hops are the same.

While  pouring to Glass that nice golden brown pleasant-smelling beer, it is forming a sturdy but not very high layer of foam. However, as soon as the foam will melt away quite quickly it will leave a white ring around the edge of the glass.

The taste is full-bodied and smooth. Golden brown colour and slightly soft toasty flavor come from the malt which is used for brewing this beer. I understood the used barley malt is British origin. Cascade and Amarillo hops gives the fresh and slightly bitter taste  .
Not too strong but still mellow beer fits nicely with meal or while waiting the meal to be ready, as an appetizer.

Stadin ESB, Stadin Panimo

Stadin ESB (extra special bitter) on tosiaan olut josta löytyy sitä vanhan stadin asennetta: itsevarma ja voimakastahtoinen.  Konstailemattomassa pullossa on simppeli mutta toimiva peruspaperille painettu etiketti jossa on vain oleellinen. 

Pullosta valuu lasiin kuparin ruskea hieman samea vahvan tuoksuinen olut joka muodostaa runsaasti kellertävää vaahtoa, kannattaa kaataa varovasti. Maku on pureva ja voimakas englantilaiset käpyhumalat antaa voimakkaan katkeran maun mutta ei silti peitä hienosti valmisteltua mallasta.

Tyypiltään Stadi ESB on "hopback humaloitu ja pullokäyvä täysmallaspintahiivaolut"

Erinomainen valinta helteiseen kesäiltaan.

Attitude is it, and this ahs the artitude.

1st some explanation: Stadi is nick name for the capital of Finland, Helsinki. The word "stadi" is it's local special dialect.

Stadi ESB (extra special bitter) is really a beer that has a lot of attitude of the real "stadi" people: confidence and strong-willed. The  simple bottle has simple but effectivev label which is printed on basic paper and has only the essential things printed, nothing more.

The copper brown beer flows out from the bottle with strong scent and creates a lot of cream coloured foam (pour carefully). The foam is not very strong but stays long time as a thin layer on the surface. 

The taste is biting and strong. The brittish hops makes it taste quite bitter but also fresh. But the bittterness is not hiding the rich flavour of the full bodied malt. "Hopback-aromatic hopped, in the bottle fermenting full malt top yeast beer"

Excellent choice to drink in the evening of the very hot summer day

Ginger Pale Ale

Vielä on monta olutta kaapissa maistelematta. Tekosyitä on taas työnteko ja reissaaminen. Kroatiassakin tuli pistäydyttyä. Toki sielläkin tuli paikallisia oluita maisteltua mutta ei lomailulta kerinnyt blogiin kirjoittelemaan.  eikä ne oikeastaan tähän sarjaan kuulukaan.
Tänään kuitenkin muistin ajoissa laittaa oluet jäähtymään. Valintana oli Little Valley Breweryn luomuolut, Ginger Pale Ale.
Reilu, puolenlitran vetoinen pullo pitää sisällään hiukan samean, punertavan oranssin oluen. Ensituoksu on hiukan simamainen, kirpeä. Lasiin kaadettuna muodostaa vahvan vaahdon joka kuitenkin sulaa pois hiljalleen ja jättää ohuen vaahtokerroksen pintaan.
Ensi siemaus puraisee. Hento inkivääri (Ginger) pistää esiin ja heti jälkeen tulee sitrus. Maltaan ja humalan aromit peittyy tähän mutta humalan kitkeryys löytyy kyllä ja jälkimaku on hiukan kuivahko.
Kokonaisuutena hiukan erikoisuus olueksi mutta ei huono. Ehkä vahvasti maustettujen ruokien kaveriksi. Ei janojuomaksi.


Quite many beers waiting for tasting. Excuses there are again working and travelling. Even visited in croatia. Of course, the local beers was tasted but they don´t belong to this blog and while being busy having holiday, didn´t have time to write a blog.
Today, I finally remembered to put some beers to fridge and the selection was Ginger Pale Ale from Little Valley Brewery.
A half liter bottle includes opaque, orange red beer. The fragrance has hint of ginger and citrus.
The first sip bites. Clear aroma of ginger and the citrus follows it again, The malt is weak, also the hop, but it still gives the bitter after taste which is even dry. .
A special type of beer but not bad. maybe suitable with strong spicy food. Not a beer  for thirst.

Adnams Ghost Ship

"Ghostly Pale Ale "

Eka olut ulkosalla pihapöydän ääressä. Jos se tästä taas lähtisi kirjoittelu kun terassikelit on kunnossa.

Adnams Ghost Ship on hiukan samea kuparin punainen pale ale tyypin olut. Pullon avauksesta tuli heti ensituoksuna sitrus, sitten kevyt mallas. Lasiin kaadetaessa tosiaan vähän samea, kuparin värinen aika nätti olut. Pinnalle tiukka, melko nopeasti reunapitsiksi haihtuva vaahto. Maku on miellyttävän raikas. Ensimmäisenä tulee taas se sitrus, ehkä jopa greippimäinen vivahde. Sitten mallas ja sitrushedelmä kisailevat vuorosta humalan kanssa. Sitrus taitaa kuitenkin olla näistä voimakkain ja se saakin selityksensä tuotteen nettisivulta. Valmitukseen käytetään citra-humalaa muiden valikoitujen lajikkeiden lisäksi juurikin vahvan citrusaromin aikaansaamiseksi. Oikein mukava tällainen kesäillan nautiskeluolut.

Adnams Ghost Ship is a little fuzzy coper redale ale type beer. Just after opening the bottle i noticed clear scent of citrus, then the light malt. While pouring to glass, it creates thick light brown foam which lays down fast formin some nice lace on the edges of the glass. The taste is nice fresh. The 1st taste is strong citrus or even grapefruit, then hop and malt and citrus is taking their places. Citrus may be the strongest one. The explanation can be found from the product's web site: for brewing they use citra hop with some selected american hops blending due to get the fresh strong citrus aroma. I like this is very nice beer to drink and enjoy the warm summer evening in the garden.

Ambar Especial Cerveza, Finally beer.

Päiviä, jopa viikkoja on vierähtänyt. Ei toki mikään puolustus mutta liikaa ryntäilyä joka suuntaan ettei edes oluelle ehdi pysähtyä. No eihän siinä muuten mutta kun autoillakin on pitänyt niin se toki hiukan rajoittaa.
Tänään kaapissa oli onneksi valmiiksi kylmenemässä Pienen pieni pullo. Espanjalainen Ambar Especial Cerveza on tosiaan pullotettu 25cl pulloon. Pullon auettua sisältä löytyy vahvahko humalan leimaama  tuoksu.
Lasiin kaadettaessa esiin tulee kirkkaan keltainen melko niukasti vaahtoava lager. Maku on myös vahvasti humala-arominen ja mallas jää vähemmälle. Lempeä, helposti juotava olut joka jättää purevan jälkimaun kielen päälle. Toimii kylmänä janonuomana tai vaikkapa saunan päälle pikku iltapalan painikkeeksi tai tietysti tapaksien kanssa. Ei huono.

Too many days..even weeks has gone. Not any defence but too much rushing around with work and some other hobbies that has not had even time for a beer. It´s not a problem but always needed to drive, so the beer is not good choice.
Today I found from fridge a tiny bottle of beer. Yes, the spanish lager, Ambar Especial Cerveza is bottled in a qute 25cl bottle. After I opened the cap, I found a stron hop aroma flooding out. When poring to glass, it will be filled up with bright yellow lager creating thin layer of white foam. The taste is also strong hopped but the malt is hiding somwhere. This is gentle tasting, easy-to-drink beer which gives a biting after taste on the tongue. Works well as very cold drink for thirst or with some small supper, or - of course - with tapas. Not bad.
